In Memory of Mike Sandretto

Mike Sandretto passed away in June. Mike has been a valued part of Alteris LLC since I started the business almost twenty years ago.

He was our ‘go-to’ accounting expert.  We worked together on some of the most interesting and  ‘unusual’ projects our firm had ever been involved with.

Mike earned his PhD in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana and had an MBA from Indiana University at Bloomington.

He taught at the Harvard Business School for many years and finished his career as a lecturer at the University of Illinois Urbana.  He published a well used case book.

He was an extremely popular teacher at both Harvard and UIUC.  Mike truly cared about his students and took a personal interest in them.  He stayed in contact with many of them after they graduated and moved on in their careers.

But he wasn’t just an academic.  Mike was CFO of large privately held manufacturing company in Chicago, a consulting manager at Price Waterhouse and Chief Operating Officer/Managing Director at Dreman Value Management, a major mutual fund/hedge fund company in the New York area.

He co-founded Investments Analytics, a financial advisory firm that provides quantitative valuation services and advanced mathematical modeling for fixed income and complex derivatives.

Mike consulted with and advised over 100 startups and small businesses from the University of Illinois and Harvard.  He was a finance expert in venture capital and fund raising for these types of companies.

His work took him all over the world from Poland to China.

All of the Alteris LLC colleagues will miss his business expertise and savvy, common sense, humor and Big Heart.
